She hasn't been playing a lot - she has only played three qualifying tournaments on the ITF tour - all this year, Manchester and two in Nottingham. Also 6 junior tournaments this year.

She was always highly rated as she was in the GB U16 teams with Edie and Holly.
I wonder if she has been concentrating on school/exams

I saw Lara play live a couple of times (in 2024, I think), and also on livestream, and as paulisi says, was disappointed

But that's obviously quite a long time ago now and the LTA definitely had her as one their picks

So maybe things have simply moved along very nicely, maybe we were both wrong, or maybe we were both right and this is a blip

Lara has played in at least 23 competitions so far this year. All bar 2 of those 23 in GB suggesting finance may be an issue.

She was 2nd on the British Tour leaderboard going into last week, and will lead it once points from Sutton go on.

Thanks folk, I occasionally dip into the British Tour thread at best but had cottoned on to Lara's results this week.

Lara is also playing in the big prize money UTR event in Glasgow this week (see UTR thread - even more esoteric than the British Tour one biggrin )

She is North East based, so playing Glasgow is no suprise.
Played Liverpool a few times and i did see her at Manchester, but she got a walkover.
Her dad tends to travel to competitions with her

Given the prize money, it's no surprise that anyone is playing in Glasgow biggrin

And shows how events like Sutton here (and other Premier British Tour events), as well as the big UTR events such as Glasgow, really make a difference in terms of money tournaments for some of our players

Where else could such players earn £2k or have a good play on £3k?
