Good to see Sonay quickly back to winning ways after her disappointing result to Bejlek.
Wouldn't be shocked if Emma pulls out having reached the Cluj final, had said she was going to see her grandmother after the tournament but not much time for that if she's still going to Qatar.
She wont withdraw - she will be scheduled to play late as she is still playing
With it being a 56 draw and a Saturday final she will have to play Monday in the first round.
Sonay is third on Grandstand 2 after a 10.30 start, so maybe around 13.30. Very helpfully it looks as if Emma's match won't be until Tuesday. So she may have time to recover.
Emma has a qualifier in first round. Then potentially Tauson in round two
It would be an interesting rematch if Emma meets Tauson in R2. In 2021 there was a trio of girls with huge potential born within three months of each other in 2002, Clara Tauson, Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez. Emma had beaten Clara in Sunderland the year before but they met again in the final of a WTA125 in Chicago with Clara winning in three. Emma's next tournament was the US Open which she won, beating Fernandez in the final. All three are now in the top 30 of the live rankings with Clara at 14, Emma 25 and Leylah 27. Emma has a career high of 10, Clara 12 and Leylah 13.
