I have felt for some time that Naiktha is making some really questionable decisions regarding entries. Aiming too high when there have been more easy points available and her ranking is sliding. I used to think the same of Emily Appleton, but at least then I realised that she had mainly entered for the doubles. Naiktha doesn't seem to have a regular doubles partner these days and has not been entering many doubles competitions recently. I watched her at Ilkley last year (quick plug here for Ilkley!!! ticket sales have just opened). She has a beautiful grass court game for doubles and I wish her efforts in singles were repaying her better.
Final: Emily Appleton (GBR) / Makoto Ninomiya (JPN) CR160 (94+66) [1] vs Carmen Corley & Ivana Corley (USA/USA) CR 220 (103+117)
Final is at 3pm tomorrow. Its interesting that Emily (& Makoto) are in the 125K in Midland, Texas next week instead of another 125K in Oeiras. I wonder if she can get there in time for singles qualifying starting on Sunday.
I suppose the schedule is because she is in the 250 in Austin, Texas in week 8. She is playing there with Alexa Guarachi former WR 11 who has not played for 2 1/2 years.
I've been waiting for ages to see if the Corley's beat the Jorge's, only to find that the Jorhe's gave a walkover after Matilda's almost 3-hour win over Stefanini in the singles.
Emily and Makoto really ought to win this title, but are only slight favourites with Bet365.
