2026 Favourite British Tennis Player -FINAL

Super contest and nice final outcome.    Well done to our favourites, Sonay and Fran !!

I did kind of think thatJack would get the better in the final over Katie and Emma ( after their close SF 2 ), with the other ladies introduced, but that Sonay and Fran would prove stronger. But scripts in mind so often don't turn out as you think.

Anyway, I'd say nothing to twitch here for the next such contest from start to finish.

Thank you, Jon.

Enjoyed that this year; felt like an open contest until the end. Although Fran and Sonay led all the way from round one in truth.

Personally no. I think its harder to quantify international ones than a Brit, we are on this board because we support British players.  Not to say I don't like non British players but there's so many more of them, in singles and in doubles. I feel like its a lot of work for not as much pay off.

Thats fair and it was where i was at; we had a lot less votes for the international one as well, last year. I agree with your thoughts tbh but wanted to throw it out there.

And I dont want to harm the brand!

I'd agree. At least not annually for an international one?

I think its the equivalent of trying to finangle another tournament into the tour calendars. It was great in the years where there was no/little tennis due to COVID. I don't think its needed usually.

Really pleased with this result. Sonay and Fran have both delighted us all in the past year.

Thanks for running this, Jon. Fun as always! :clap!

I agree with not running an international version: I think Blue Belle makes the case perfectly for not doing an equivalent competition. Howver... someone remarked in the player of the month competition last year that they wanted to nominate Louis Cayer! So I was wondering if it would be possible do a (one off, not monthly!) competition where people nominated their candidates for international tennis person and then we voted on that list. (I'm thinking the TCU Tennis Programme and coaches would be worth a nod!)

International vote consigned the way of the River Valley Open in Melbourne or whatever it was called!

Re other events like you mention - interesting idea. Worth noting, anyone is able to run an event at any time, please dont let me stop them. For now, Ill keep with PoS/PoM, the grand slam wins contests and this - theyve stood the test of time! But Id happily support other ideas fools have!

I tried some fantasy events at one time eg fantasy Wimbledon where people voted on who would win between X and Y. Didnt work! All the favourites won and it was too predictable. Truth is often more interesting than fiction!

Maybe an end of year poll on people related to British tennis not nominated elsewhere who have done well? But tbh I don't think I really know anyone other than Louis! (Personally speaking)
