There were numerous deuce games all of which Emma and Elena lost until the 2nd half of the 2nd set when a couple went their way and the drew level.

Sonay has a great chance this evening. Navarro is on rotten form and has barely won a match all season. Sonay will need to e a bit better than her last round where she could have lost had her opponent actually been able to take one or two of the many break points she had.

Fran was a bit disappointing I thought. Couldn't cope with the windy conditions and it was about as good a draw as she could have got really.  But Day was way better.

Emma was very good. Actually looked to be enjoying herself on court which is a a big change from earlier in the year. Tough next round though and I'm not expecting her to progress though she will have nothing to lose and will not start favourite so you never know.

fabulous set by Sonay but lackluster from Navarro who looks disinterested frankly. Not to take anything away from Sonay who is playing very well.

Sonay was on top until half way through the 2nd set, at a set and a break up but then she had a MTO and lost the set despite breaking twice.

How Sonay won that I will never know. She looked down and out after the 2nd set loss and looking as if she had mobility problems but just kept plugging away. Then twice in the third Navarro served for the match and each time Sonay pulled back. Sonay 6-1 3-6 7-6(2)
