As Madman has suggested above Mark and Jim should get one of the remaining doubles WC slots. Hopefully a win will secure it and baring in mind their rankings they have already done enough for me.

I have no issue with Evo not getting a WC, he has never done anything at Wimbledon and has let a lot of people down over the years and has already had enough WC's. Probably more relevant here and now is that he has been a part time player for a while, I know he has had injuries(?) but is clearly not fit. Unlike a few years ago we have a hatful of players who are deserving of a WC so it's time to move on folks.
I wish Dan the Man well and hope he comes through qualifiers, but if he get's there a five setter in the final round might be his undoing.

Have to disagree Mark. I was reading some international press on Wimbledon WCs MD and there is a lot of angst about those big names that have been overlooked for players they have never heard of. I still think Dan should have one for services to GBR and Davis Cup. He would lose in the first round but a vast majority of the youngsters will be flattened in the first round. We have a lot of men qualifying but apart from Jack no one world class, with Cam still recovering from injury And potentially Jack doubtful. On the womens side, hopes obviously with Emma to reach the second week and possibly Katie, but thats it so far. Everyone to their own thoughts though. Respect your views.

Whilst I agree that many are not happy with Dan's omission what you are reading in the World's press which we all read by the way, is irrelevant and often ill informed.  When you talk about players 'people have never heard of', that comment alone says it all in that the comments you are reading are being made by people who know nothing about tennis and clearly only watch for two weeks a year as the majority of people do.  The players that have been given WC's are mostly established and successful on the challenger tour and have been familiar names on here amongst real tennis fans for years. Your comment about players being flattened in the first round is just a derogatory remark to prove your point, you wait and see most will not be flattened.  As for being flattened have you seen any of Dan's results this year?  You have tripped yourself up there.
Also where do you draw the line at world class?  Your support of Dan for a WC implies that he is world class, but look at his results.   World class is a vague term and is totally irrelevant, on the other hand in a world of 8 billion people I would say a player ranked 1000 in the world is absolutely world class.

I think, Mark, for most of us the support for Dan wasn't a) linked to his form in 2026 - he has hardly played and when he has, it has been a drain!! b) any knock on the guys who got it - good for them and I am sure they will do us proud. We will certainly support them and they deserve the chance to shine!

Most of us felt Dan should get one due to his history of being a mainstay of British tennis over the past few years - DC, Olympics with Andy, nearly top 20, top 50 for many years - and now retiring. He would probably have lost his opener and I feel he definitely won't qualify this week - just feel it is a shame.

As Indy has said, I think Billy is also a shame.

Anyway, good luck to all the Brits in the main draw and qualies and lets support them, not fight about something we can't change, even if we wanted to!!!

OK, I've woken up this morning as mad as ever about in particular Billy not getting a MD WC.

As I've said I would have given one to Dan too but I understand some arguments against one for him. What I just don't get at all is Billy not getting one, given his ranking around other GB WCs and well ahead of Felix and Harry ( and yes, of course no-one should be taking it out on these 2 fine progressing players ). FWIW Billy is live GB # 4.

I have read no-one here even try to justify Billy's exclusion and the speculation seems just to be about age ( I took it CD had tongue firmly in cheek when mentioning age and '"northern" ).

This ( my gawd ) 31 yo is clearly a relatively late bloomer with a climb through the rankings and history on the road that should serve as an inspiration to many out on say the ITF circuit that you can make it, never too old - cough.. Given a MD WC last year ( and it's not as if he had been stacking up Wimbledon MD WCs ) he did win a MD match.

Sorry, to my mind I can say no other than I think that Billy's exclusion is a disgrace.

I may be heavily biased, but I 100% agree.

I hate when they do this and I feel out of all the slams they do this the most (do they actually?)

I don't know as a fact but, yes, I agree - with both

I've never seen another federation do it (not that I remember anyway)

And doubles doesn't matter - as in the press aren;t going to jump up and down about doubles cards

Bearing in mind that Luke Johnson got a WC some years ago being ranked as low as 350 or 450 this seems very unfair on the likes of MacKinlay, Duncan, Bass, Whitehouse and Hands etc The money from one appearance yet alone a win or two if they got a good draw could help towards taking the financial pressure of making tennis pay so they can swing a bit easier on tour.

Desperate (for a SMDWC) Dan & Henry neither whom play doubles regularly get a WC so all is good. At least we can wave goodbye to Dan on Court 57.

So, for everyone in the future who says they don't like wildcards, and they're unfair, and it should just be the next in line as they deserve them the most, all I can say is:

Come on down, Mr. Arthur Féry

On my part, I had already very much mellowed over this over the years

Think the easier thing this year especially in the men's was how many looked like they could compete... even with the wipe out and losses I thought most did themselves proud! And lots could possibly be not needing wildcards next time... let's hope!

Well Arthur wont be on next years equivalent thread - he has already sewn up direct entry!
