Sofia has served for the match 3 times - at *5-2, *5-4 ( when she had 4 MPs in all ), and *6-5 ( after breaking serve but broken back to love ). Now in a second set TB.

6-3 6-6

Sofia won, picking up some decent points given this is a 35k

15 points so far for Q & SF will take her up to 43 points. Should take her into the top 800 and provisionally to GB #25. And no points due to drop off until October!  One GB woman who I can see being top 500 before the year is out.

Gosh, that's a sort of 'blink and you'll miss it' sort of result

Wow, Sofia has certainly handed out a good few thrashings in her short career. It looks like when she's on, she's very much on, which already was very promising.

To now win as emphatically as that against a top 500 player is great to see.

Having a really good start to the season. One of the unsung players of Q1?

Not sure about that. She was in the January and February PoM nominations ( finished equal 3rd in February ) and I am sure is already set for an April nomination. I imagine that quite a few eyes are on Sofia.

No, no - my phrasing was wrong. I meant to try and say one of the players of Q1 who is sailing beneath the radar of the wider media; which is what I meant by unsung, as opposed to around here.

Ha, misunderstood you, though tbh I think she is still a fair bit short of wider media recognition, certainly before this week ( whatever she has done at college and early in her pro career, she started this week WR 930 ), probably still - particularly if you look at how players not called Emma can struggle for a mention.
