 Very sensible really

He must be both mentally and physically tired from last week, and yesterday

He's got his MD Wimbledon Juniors spot sewn up

There's really not much else to play for this year

Far better to finish on a high and take that into the practice session and really build on it

He's down to play J200 Aldershot in two weeks

A pretty unpleasant match between Jan Janda and Regan O'Brien yesterday

Jan called a ball out that I saw clearly in

Regan then called a ball out that I'm not sure about but could have been in

Sort of tit for tat ?

An umpire was called - didn't stop the arguments though

On the other hand, I saw some very good and honest calling from some of the other players, like Celine Ricaud, for instance, and others.

I dont know what match you watched. They argued about the double bouce. Everyball on the line Regan was calling out where I watched few Jan did not call.

Clearly you have some hate for the young lad. If you spoke to other players in his age group you would know he is the most respectful and liked player, never shouts in opponents faces like othes, ofter does not call balls out when they are out.

You are experienced poster, but clearly you have some agenda against him, be mindful players read this forum.

Always nice to have a new person posting

And with good input - appreciate it - that's what's missing - some background from people who know

Thanks

And I am very pleased that players read this forum, I know a lot who do, and I never post anything that I wouldn't say to them personally or to their coaches, if asked.

However, it doesn't change what I saw - and I have no idea why you think I have any hate towards the boy? What on earth are you basing that on? I've barely ever posted about him before.

I was posting about what I saw yesterday - a ball that clearly hit the side line (IMO), that Jan called out, in the tramlines. Our cameras are really well placed to call that line.

If you're saying that was a genuine mistake, and not normal, then fine.

And, indeed, Regan's call afterwards, as I said, could well have been wrong too - the cameras are less well placed for that line so I didn't want to be so clear.

(There were more arguments than just that double bounce, though - although not necessarily Jan's fault, of course - and the match did degenerate a bit - the umpire was on call for a lot of it - and rightly so)

So, I take on board that Jan is nomrally very well mannered and sportsmanlike.

But I take offence at you thinking that I 'hate' any of the players (young or old) - that's plain ridiculous.

There are a couple of players who I think are drama queens, or sulky, or just bad-mannered (all based on watching them). But I absolutely do not 'hate' them.

Please note that I was in charge of junior tennis in my area of France for a long time. (I'm also a national level umpire). I support young players, and generally am very forgiving of youngsters, in life as well as tennis, far more so than for adults - I think they need a chance to grow out of things (even Roger Federer was a terribly behaved teenager)

So just because I say something negative, based on what I've seen, doesn't mean I have anything against the player. A negative comment is just as valid as a positive one. But it's just that, a comment, in a moment in time.

Scott Watson (2010) is the first over the line today

Jan Janda is also 2010 and very close to winning

So the younger ones are leading the way ....

What an extraordinary over-the-top comment!  Coup Droit referred to one point.  He didn't even say it was in, he said he 'saw it as in'.

Referred to one point as "clearly in" and advised Jan to go specsavers ! Which comment is over the top is very debatable. We can discuss further or drop the subject an be more mindful of future comments...

Yes, I saw it as clearly in, hence the specsavers

Which I deleted - not the 'clearly in' part - that was factual - but I deleted the joke follow-on, as I obviously do not wish to upset you, and it can be deleted, as unnecessary and a little basic/obvious, without undermining the main point.

We can certainly drop the subject, it's a good idea, and, again, I'm honestly not trying to deliberately rile you. That was the reason I deleted the one line.

But, if you mean by 'mindful', not to say things that you disagree with, then that, I'm afraid, can't be promised - I was very mindful of my original comment and, barring a throwaway comment that I've deleted, will be equally mindful going forward. No more, no less. (And I expect you to be equally so, as opposed to accusing people of hatred.).

PS Thanks, KK smile

In the girls, we not only have the Korpanec Davies sister battle, but - as Jon pointed out - the Battles of the Brittons too

Isabelle Britton v Dani Britton (no relation)

Quite a few 2011-ers made it through in the girls - Hermione, Grace, Liv - and April as a 2012-er

No real upsets

Will be interesting to see Meg Knight back on the court tomorrow

Btw, for anyone who lives anywhere nearby and fancies it, it's very easy to pop along to the nationals - you just sign in. Free
Weather is set to be beautiful - was certainly lovely today. It's a great setting. Canteen is miles better than it used to be. Lots of people to see, chat to (depending how friendly you're feeling) And some interesting tennis.
