She didnt lack confidence in the BJK Cup down in Oz, however.

Yes, that's not the problem ....

What do you think is the problem, if there is one ( or more ) in particular, CD? And tbf Mika was playing a top 200 player.

I would think if she is learning well, and not over-affected by defeats moving forward, such as a drain on confidence, then fair enough to play at higher levels. She certainly has great ability and I would have guessed determination to prove herself.

Anyway, we are still so soon after that BJK Cup when she did truly produce. So give the girl a chance.

An all-GB (nearly) doubles means we'll get a win there too

Hev & Harriet v Mike (and Gadecki)

In this instance, I'd say not a good draw. Both pairs looked to well have the capability to advance beyond R1 ( even with Mika in for Mike  ) and indeed possibly further, with Hev ( and thus her CR with Harriet ) being so underranked.

Will be interesting but I would have definitely preferred that it had been avoided at this stage.

Yes, Heather was still top 100 in doubles a year ago, but hasn't played a lot since. An estimated combined ranking of under 300 wouldn't be unreasonable, and would put them amongst the seeds.

 Yes, I agree

I meant there's not definitely a 'problem' as such in the first place - and, if there were, slightly, I don't see 'lack of confidence' as being it

I would say it's more to do with missing a lot of matchplay earlier this year, she was out for two months, and the fact that she went up rapidly and then hasn't really had time to consolidate

To me, I'm reluctant to pass judgement unless I've seen the match live (livestream). As you say, she was playing a very decent player. And it's the tennis that matters, not the score. A poster said she wasn't at all competitive but that can be in several ways.

As to the elephant in the room, that also is an issue but does depend .... it's not the be-all-and-end-all (even I admit smile)

A disappointing end to the match, had the chances before the tie break, and then was 4-1 up in the tie break too, then 5-4 up, but by then had seemingly gone to pieces.

On a lighter note, Ito's understated bows at the net to the applauding spectators, at the end of the match. Very respectful.

Katie lost the first set 1-6 but up 5-2* in the second. Her opponent is having a MTO.

A pity, Katie wasn't far from winning that match.
