Yeah I really hadn't seen a Sam comeback (again) on the cards - fair enough. Wonder what her PR is?

She's no longer listed on the WTA site, but the ITF website shows a last match in December 2024  and a doubles year-end ranking for 2024 as 95. Interesting....

Are Sam and her husband still together? Im sure I saw Sam at Ilkley last year having lunch with Tara Moore, but may have been mkstaken. Not sure if she played or was coaching.

Haven't seen anything on social media, but they are the only two directors of MS Tennis Ltd - a private company formed in last year

I think she still carries his name professionally is an indication that they are. And they both still coach at the same club.

What indication is there that they are not together?  It seemed an odd question to ask.

Probably was and it was just a passing thought really given a lot of tennis couples dont seem to last - transient lifestyle etc.

Mimi, Heather and Lily are in Birmingham qualifying directly. Hannah, Jodie, Millie R and Emily A join them with qWC.

Certainly on the face of it strange not to play here. Hopefully sensible tennis scheduling logic behind missing Birmingham.

Actually, just thinking a bit more, is there any minimum ranking for playing WTA 125s?

Play-down restrictions to a WTA125 differ depending on what other tournaments are on that week. In the 2nd week of a Grand Slam, only the top 20 can't play (2 players ranked 11-20 can play with a WC)

Just went on the LTA website as i wanted to go to watch qualifying at Birmingham tomorrow, but it says sold out except wheelchair access

Is it really sold out for qualifying? Centre holds 2500 seats.

I've mailed the LTA, but had a standard response to advise wothin 3 days, which is a waste of time
