Week 20 - Grand Slam - Roland Garros, Paris, France - Clay

it was a bit short from Fran - and the DF didn't help

Breaks again but plays a really tight game unfortunately, four fairly meh errors.

6-6

That's a shame. Fran led 3-1* in the tiebreak but was dragged back, and then a couple of very high quality points put Bouzkova ahead, and she double faults to lose 6-0 7-6(3). Nearly got that second set over the line, which would have made it very interesting.

Exactly. 'Shame' is the word that comes to mind. Just a couple of wild/loose shots from Fran took that tiebreak away from her
And you got the feeling that she was on the front foot and, yes, that third set could have gone any way

But B was solid, she didn't give it to her - some super attack out of defence, when Fran thought she'd done enough

Never mind

Big week for Fran. Of all the Brits playing, really deserved getting a slam win on the board. Good fight in the second. Onto the grass!

Or in Frans case - Stay on the clay!

Talking about clay, I wonder if Rybakina will be be starting her grass court campaign earlier than expected after her early exit?

Emma's loss to Sierra perhaps not such a bad result after all given the way she dispatched Paolini.

Emma's loss maybe not so bad in the context of tennis when one considers how truly awful Elena Rybakina, second seed, played yesterday - that ball went everywhere but in the court

Sierra played a good match but Jasmine has been struggling with foot and ankle injuries for a little while and by early in the third set was quite significantly hampered with her movement, and was quite emotional about it all. I wouldn't be surprised if she misses the grass.

The WTA originally said estimated time of Katie's match 14.30. The first match on that court is now half way through the fifth set so they are now saying a 17.00 start for Katie.

Saw a few games towards the end. Not great, too many errors to let their opponents off the hook.
