Lily and Katy are now in the main draw in Portugal (Katy is Q1 so should be promoted).
The "grass" tournament in Egypt now only has Ella, Allegra and Summer. But this is the week before the WC play-offs, so I wasn't expecting players to travel.
The grass court in Egypt only has a couple of players who will be at Roehampton on the list. Perhaps not a surprise, but a shame to go to the effort of putting the *only* grass ITF on for noone of the players it's theoretically aimed at to play it. Good opportunity for lots of players ranked 600+ to have a go on the grass for an experience I suppose, cool to say you did it.
With Fran going for the dirt, intrigued to see who gets the WCs for Queens.
Guessing Katie B, Sonay and Harriet....?
Is Fran really going to stay on the clay? I know grass isn't her best surface but will need some preparation for Wimbledon. Presumably she's prioritising US Open MD qualification?
I would say if this happens that one WC down for Queens, Serena. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/articles/c5y7zn52yexo
Wonder if she would go to Eastbourne? Always said it was one of her favourite tournaments and her daughter loved it.

It is just the doubles though that she is in discussions over, right? As the article says, all the singles wild cards should go to British players.
"Four years after the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion waved goodbye to the sport in New York, Williams is considering playing doubles at the WTA 500 event in London in two weeks' time"
and then
"The Lawn Tennis Association has consistently prioritised British players when determining who should receive wildcards at domestic grass court events.
All four available for the singles draw are very likely to go to British players, but the LTA are likely to feel differently about the doubles given the "exceptional circumstances" of a potential Williams return."

Note that they are talking about a doubles wildcard, not singles, and there are only two available.

Could be costly for GB women though?
Liv and Tereza should get in directly, but one GB pair could miss out - or go to Ilkley, where a different pair would miss out ! Same situation could arise at Eastbourne, although Liv+ will probably be in Germany.

I would think the LTA would say if she wants a doubles WC she would need to partner with a British player. That's what they did with Venus at Birmingham a couple of years ago.
