It's looks like Alicia and Katie are the only round 1 matches still to be completed, since Katie is currently playing doubles, is she likely to finish her singles today?

As the winners of these two matches meet in round 2 I suspect they will be completed on Thursday before they play again later in the day. The matches aren't showing on today's schedule as far as I can see.

Thanks TA, I was concerned about there being a disadvantage but at least they'll be in the same position as each other

Emily and Celine make the most of it and win 3 and 6

Nice, they were the better pair but fell behind in the second and the breaker was a bit of a coin flip. I believe Emily's original partner ended up not coming to Birmingham so Naef was a last minute pairing and glad they sneaked in and took the win.

Looks like Alja has gotten bored waiting and Katie is through to the second round?

Shows in the draw on the LTA website, and Katie is on the schedule tomorrow to play round 2.

Also I see in the doubles that Hrunkacova and Valdmannova re through to the doubles SF after just one game.

On the WTA tournament summary page, at the bottom in the "Who's playing" section, scroll right through the seeds, Tomljanovic is showing as "eliminated" (rather harsh terminology?) too.

Seems rather harsh on Preston and Dudeney to force them to finish and then play a well rested Swan.
Bizarrely Preston looks set to play three times today. Against Dudeney, with Swan and then against Swan.

My guess is that if she does win against Dudeney that her game against Swan is delayed til tomorrow

Struggling to find coverage of Mika's match, Tennis channel is showing men's doubles and the WTA website stream for Mika's court is claiming there's ATP matches in progress

It's difficult with the weather and tbf it was anticipated that Katie would have her R1 match to complete too. But Tomljanovic has retired from that. It is certainly reasonable to be trying to.play any outstanding L16 singles matches today if they can.

Any singles match scheduled will no doubt be due before any doubles match scheduled so it would be S / S / D. And if they later in the day think one needs to drop it looks still as if that would be the doubles which is already at the QF stage

Mika is a break up at 4-2, decent start. How long they will keep going though - the men's matches are showing as interrupted already

Mika has break point but the covers are now on. Not sure why Alicias court was an 11am start

Looking out my classroom window, there is no rain here (10 miles away from Edgbaston) so I'd imagine playing will resume soon.
