Irritating that the LL spot has gone to Lajal and not a Brit

Its just a draw though isnt it? Do you suggest it was fixed? I dont believe that for one minute!

How did you get from his comment he thought it was fixed?

 Thank you, seagull !

I don't follow you, Jon, sorry - where does it being fixed come into it?

Lajal got it because you do a draw and the spot goes to who wins the draw, which was Lajal, hence the spot went to Lajal, which is what I wrote - and that was irritating

Hi CD - you will see I have apologised. For some reason I read it as interesting as opposed to irritating - I was on my phone and my eyesight didnt pick up the correct word.

I do apologise and I know you know the rules etc - hence why I thought your comment was (wrongly!) interesting.

Peace?

Ollie Tarvet came through nicely

Good stuff. I just wanted to see that sort of form from Oli and I think he should now have already sealed a Wimbledon Q WC over some higher ranked players.

It's going to be a tough choice among those much more reguiar circuit players, many of whom are very closely ranked. A week for making important final statements.

Im still not sure if I will go along Wednesday or Thursday but Wednesday looks tempting with several Brits into the last 16 already.

The weather all week looks abysmal though so not sure what action will take place - not much it would seem if the weather predictions are accurate.

That is correct. And his university graduation was in May, so I would assume he's officially pro full-time now.

Fun day at Ilkley yesterday. From a firecast of fixed weather we saw 9 hours of play. Ollie Okonkwo was a fun match. Never heard of him before. Great serve and a game for grass. He was calm throughout working well with his coach. Surprised from the performances yesterday he  isnt higher ranked. Lots of other fun matches. Toby (father called him Tubs??) was lucky to get through 2nd set TB. Kjaer was very frustrated and basically gave up on his serve to lost the first set 6-0. Wrong thread but nice to see Barnett/Sam Murray Sharan win.

Due to go again today but expect a lot less play unfortunately.

 Thanks, Simon

We LOVE firsthand reports - the more the better biggrin

Oliver Okonkwo has been in the US at college for the past few years so hasn't been playing pro matches fulltime

He's also done a lot of doubles

He's ont of my 'little' faves - he wasn't the best junior because he was tall and powerful but didn't really trust the power and hadn't 'grown into' his game properly (didn't move great)

But he was always respectful on court, with an exciting potential - and he's got a lovely dad

He also has a younger brother Alex who is also at US college for tennis (his dad once asked me at a British Tour event, after a really painful first round match, how I thought Alex (similar build to Oliver) could play better - I said, just my opinion, but I reckoned he should HIT the blinkin' ball as opposed to tickling it - proud to say Alex came out for his second match and landed some bombs )

And there's another brother, James, I think, who is really tall and is a high level basketball player

Just had a notification that start of play is delayed until 11.30 which doesnt surprise me. Grey skies and heavy rain alternating with blue skies and white puffy clouds so far this morning.

My scoreboard says play has temporary stoppage at 1110 MTB match point. What on earth? Rain at match point?
