Week 25 - WTA500 - Bad Homburg, Germany - Grass

Feel quite emotional after that. A very secure cross and volley down the line to win it. There will be one very proud dad watching down over her this afternoon.

Did she fully mean the drop shot return winner at 7-7? Who cares! Great to see!

Wow - I only saw a bit of the first set and it was quite nice but Em and K were losing easily

Thrilled for her / them

It was an absolute scorcher wasn't it! She'd tried a few short chipped returns that hadn't worked so maybe it was just preseverance.

Super for Emily.

They were 5-0* up in the second set before being pulled back to *5-5 and then ultimately winning it 7-5

The 108 points for a R1 win will very likely take Emily into the top 150 and certainly to her highest ranking since 2020 when she was WR 142.

L16:- Tamara Korpatsch (GER) / Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) CR470 (304+166) def Lyudmyla Kichenok (UKR) / Desirae Krawczyk (USA) CR59 (32+27) [4] 3-6 7-5 10-8  biggrin

Really good result - I remember their opponents as being excellent doubles players.

L16:- Tereza Michalikova (SVK) / Olivia Nicholls (GBR) CR44 (22+22) [2] def Xinyu Jiang (CHN) / Yifan Yi (CHN) CR85 (38+47) 6-2 6-3

That win means that Liv and Tereza are up overall from the first three weeks of the grass tournaments

Thankfully Liv and Tereza weren't on too long winning comfortably in straight sets 3&2

Em and Tami lose 6-4 6-3. Thought they played a pretty good level, were unlucky to lose Tami's serve from 40-15 midway through the first set as was very even. Back up into the top 150 though, and covered points from a couple of 100k semis due off in a few weeks. Good week!
