That said, he struggled a little bit to kill it off!  wink  

And Max does make it three qualifiers:

FQR:  (qWC) Max Basing WR 331 defeated Rémy Bertola (SUI) WR 187 by 2-6 6-4 3-6 7-5 6-2 ban-woohoo.gif

Definitely uncharted waters!

THAT IS INSANE! I think we all hoped but I didn't have the full faith it would happen. 12 men into the main draw of Wimbledon - surely must be a first???

 Great from the 3! Max especially never expected! Think we had 13 last year though.... But a stronger group I'd say!

What a moment

I have tears in my eyes

All credit to Max, and his physical trainers (not shoes! ) - he was the fresher player, although he looked cooked at the end - but it might just have been shell-shocked

Played a lot to Bertola's backhand which is smart

And, again, when people complain about the mental toughness of our players, look at Bertola - really close match, Max must be nervous, and what does Rémy do but serve two consecutive really poor DFs to give Max 3 match points - practically handed it to him

Thrilled for the lad

Wow - i think the prediction was 1-2 qualifiers to get 3 is some achievement.

The depth on the mens side is phenomenal

It's such a comment on our men's strength just now that while we gave MD WCs to 6 players that were DEs into qualifying we can still come up with 3 qualifiers. So yes, 12 now in the MD!

Excellent - fist time since 1999 that 3 British men have qualified (they were Danny Sapsford, Arvind Parmar and Jamie Delgado)

Well done. Would have been happy with one. Lots of depth. Maybe be not top 50 but Jack looks as though he is really back to some kind of form in Eastbourne. Test will be progress in MD. I can only see Jack getting to second week but would love to be proved wrong! Womens side definitely lacking depth in 100-300 but maybe two in into second week.

Really enjoyed Max's interview after qualifying - it obviously means a huge amount to him to have made it into the main draw.
