Well done Arthur first Brit Wild Card to make last 16 at Wimbledon since Andrew Foster in 1993.

Arthur has won $401k this week! So far. Takes him to $730k for the year. Thats nice!

Not sure he needs the money.....

Top 100 though

Yeah there was some comment that he came from a well to do family, but that well off?

Absolutely, change of pace for at least a year.

Er, wasn't Emma a wild card when she reached 4th round in 2021?.  I noted the commentators didn't specify,  just said 'wild card' rather than 'Men's wild card".

His father is worth £280 million smile

But that's by the by.....

Brilliant match, amazing fight, and rock solid MTB

Bergs must be gutted

Bergs is a classy operator and one of the more sporting players around. Interesting to see him remonstrate with the umpire about this attitude of celebrating net cords rather than apologising for them.

Notwithstanding the above, a truly phenomenal effort. Fairytale way to break the top 100.

Despite his comments to the umpire - he also mentioned Arthur celebrating some shots a bit too early - he gave Arthur a lovely congratulatory hug at the end of the match.  Well done to him but, of course, huge congratulations to Arthur and thank you making it a long match so I had chance to watch some of it!

Wow! I think that it is relevant. I remember when Wardy had his great run at Queens and someone told him how much he'd won, he was gobsmacked.

Also Dustin Brown (?) sleeping in a camper van to be able to compete.

Not having that worry and being able to have a team around you where money isn't an object seems like a huge advantage, and less pressure on the financial rewards of good results.

But anyway, back to the tennis..

I haven't really seen Arthur play before, and although part of me thinks that Bergs gave it away by choking, I am also hugely impressed at Arthur never giving up and taking the opportunities presented. Keeping it solid when it counted and making the best of his weapons being such a small guy.

Just watched his presser, and he comes across as level headed and confident. I can't say that I care who wins the Dimi/ Berrettini match, but glad it's going to 5 so that whoever it is is as tired as possible.

I also noted that Arthur hadn't requested court 18, and seemed a bit surprised at the question, although it wasn't clear if anyone on his team might have done. Glad he's said that it's time to move onto a bigger court though.

Unbelievable!  How he turned that fourth set round, never mind the fifth, I'll never know!  He just kept plugging away, indeed refused to go away!  biggrin  Dimi or "Tini" in the last 16...  He won't be able to get away with another match on Court 18 after today!  no   In any case, he's going to have to learn how it feels to play on N° 1 or Centre sooner or later.

Dimi beat Tini by 6-3 6-4 3-6 5-7 6-3 in three hours & 32 minutes, so an hour or so less time than Arthur spent on court, but Arthur is arguably the fitter of the two.

L16:  (WC) Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) WR 146 (CH = 3 in November 2017) vs (WC) Arthur Féry WR 114

As an aside, Arthur's also going to have to sort out his nosebleed problem.  Surely he could have it cauterised?

I thought that, but would you do it in the middle of a GS? Also if it were that easy,, why didn't he get it done before?

Wow! Well done, Arthur!

When I last had a chance to check the scores, Arthur had just started to struggle in the third set. Did not really expect to come back to find this result. Awesome!
