Hannah is at *0-3 but has had break points in both Krejcikova service games and is playing OK.
Yes, Hannah has become a lot more front foot in the past couple of months
It's really good to see
As you say, she hasn't done much wrong so far, there's been good construction of points, serve could be better, obviously a little deeper would be good, but it's very decent
Mimi's lacked the killer shot when given it to her on a plate which is a shame - again, the match feels closer than the score
Good attitude from Hannah here. The sort of willingness to dig in, keep going, not lose the rag that has been missing in most of the matches I've seen if her this year where she's either thrown toys out the pram or basically checked out.
As you say this scoreline feels unfair but that's what these players do to you!
Mimi just serving a little better and backing herself a bit more on some of these opportunities to make a play and looking more of a contender now. Still a long way to go but second set a much better showcase of her tennis.
Ach real shame Hannah made that error on her second break point at 4-5* in the second. Would have been very interesting as Barbora was starting to get a bit twitchy.
Hannah loses 6-1 6-4 but grew into the match.
Mimi played a disappointing third set. Went a break down early and twice had a chance to break back but couldn't get it and never looked like the winner. Shame as there was some very good tennis in the middle of the match.
Both Hannah and Mimi bow out but both were by no means disgraced. Hannah must have learnt a lot from that match with Barbora and had some chances. She kept fighting. Mimi had a rip roaring second set but couldnt hold the level into the third, which for a player of her age and experience isnt unexpected. I think they both did well in the circumstances.
I didn't see much of Mimi's match but definitely no disgrace to lose in three sets to Kasatkina.
Thought Hannah played a good second set - just a little more experience and knowhow from Krejcikova on the big points but Hannah was very much in contention.
It was a good second set from Hannah and as Krejíková admitted in the post-match interview the first set was harder than the score makes it look. She's progressing nicely.

Is she though? Even with the slight uptick in form the last 3 weeks she doesn't look much better anywhere than a year ago to me.
I agree with PaulM that Hannah's attitude was very good (especially in comparison with some other matches)
And the key thing, for me, was that she was really winning points with good tennis
She couldn't do enough of them, and there were afew more errors than you'd like
But she was constructing good points, working them, hitting winners, she looked very much in the match
(Unlike Alicia, say, who has a similar score but who was always behind and you felt that Parks had it wrapped up, short of an earthquake)
Mimi played well too - but should have done better in the first, IMO - she had a LOT of chances and could really have rattled Kasatkina - as it was, Kasatkina admittedly lost the second when Mimi was relaxed and going for it, but you always thought that she'd re-focus

The 'slight uptick' is the key thing, isn't it? I think it's quite a marked uptick, quite exciting - BUT if it's just a product of grass, a lot of attention, playing near home, whatever, then that doesn't cut it
Hannah now has to buckle down and transfer this play into everyday bread-and-butter tournaments
