Weeks 26-27 - The Championships, Wimbledon - Singles - grass

Hope Swan is fit, as she has had terrible w/c draws other than begu the first year she played. Really deserves a chance.

Here are the tennis abstract forecasts - they see Katie B winning 3 matches and getting to the last 16, Emma winning 1 match

If you add up all the Brits forecasts for round one it comes to circa 280% ish so they forecast 2 to 3 first round wins in total

Me too crispy, on paper she has one of the nicest draws she could get, the ranking points would help a lot ahead of later in the year when she loses the points she picked up last year in Australia. Stretch goal for Katie must be qualifying for Aus open by ranking if her body allows it

Can I be really annoying? Im on the move so cant explore the draw properly - can someone list which men and ladies will be playing Monday? I need to make a decision in next hour if I go (queue) Monday or Tuesday. Of course if someone has a 2nd ticket they need to move on

Hannah is given under a 9% chance of progressing through the first round and Fran under 20%.

I just feel those are so wrong. I am hopeful that if Fran is injury free that she will come through, and although Krejikova is a wily old campaigner, I fancy Hannah to come through in a long 3 set match. Home advantage is a huge thing and the Tennis Abstract predictions don't seem to have made any account of that.

I feel that all the Brits are being given less chance of progressing through the first round than is the reality, and although I think Mika doesn't have much chance (due to Benicic being too tough an opponent)  and it may be too much for Mimi and Alicia, I am hopeful that Katie B, Emma and Katie S will make it through the first round.

Harriet's is a tough one to call - which Ostapenko will turn up I wonder - it has the potential to be a seriously combustive and bad tempered match, I think.

All in all, my prediction is for 5 Brits to come through the first round - Katie B, Emma, Katie S, Fran and Hannah.

I believe that the two champions open on the first two days - and their respective halves of the draw follow, so it would be both top halves on Monday.
