Bencic too solid and experienced, Mika hitting error after error. There have been LOTS of balls into the middle of the net.

She panicked. Totally understandable given Bencica ranking. As Jo Durie said a lot to be learnt but does Mika have the best teacher?

Yeah, she hit two drop shots into the bottom of the net, slices into the bottom of the net. Hope she doesn't feel too deflated after this, she had a brutal lesson and hopefully she's learned a LOT from it.

Bar the first 3 games, Mika was way off her levels. Maybe nerves git to her.

She looks proper deflated but she'll get over it and sure she'll take what she's learned from Bencic back to the practice court.

Or that's her level - as in, it's very up and down

I think it was a very difficult task for the youngster tbh. Bencic had the power, and Stojsavljevic was never going to push her back. Really needed to get Bencic moving, bring her forward, hit slices, etc. but hard to do that when rushed. Scoreboard pressure told with the serve, and then ground strokes failing. Doubt there will be significant learnings from the match, other than just getting stronger and handling pressure better.

Harriet quickly 3-0* down and trainer on for foot/ankle

Not going to be a good day is it.

 Indeed.....cry

And two of the blokes have lost pretty easily

Allez, Alicia ! I have hopes in this match - probably misplaced - but a person can have hopes smile

(and am hoping Hannah's will have some decent moments)

Harriet has to stay focused and positive because she must know Ostapenko can lose interest and go off the boil

Gawd, chins up folk, let things run a bit further before getting too depressed.

OK. I still absolutely think it was right that she received a MD WC.

She fell and injured herself on match point when 6-2 5-2 up, so would almost certainly have won were it not for that.

Harriet is up 3-0* in the second set (although has had to save break points on her own serve).
