A miserable set of scores, with only Lara extending a set. The main draw is out, and I will add it shortly. I had missed the fact that Mika S is at the bottom of the acceptance list, making it in on her WTA ranking, and seeded 12 as a result. She has drawn Roehampton semi-finalist Welles Newman

QR1

(q1) Ilary Pistola (ITA) d. (qWC) Sophie Christodoulou 6-3 6-2
(q2) Fleur De Bresser (NED) d. (qWC) Sophie Johnstone 6-2 6-2
(q11) Sarah Ye (USA) d. (qWC) Hermione Korpanec Davies 6-3 6-2
(q10) Margaret Sohns (USA) d. (qWC) Leah Bush 6-3 6-3
(q15) Carrie-Anne Hoo (USA) d. (qWC) Lara Savic 6-3 7-5
(q12) Iulia Maria Buculei (ROU) d. (qWC) Teodora Prisadnikova 6-0 6-1

Mika and Daniella are unfortunately in the same eighth of the draw. At least the other seed apart from Mika is the Argentinian who lost to Sophie Bekker at Roehampton

(12) Mika Stojsavljevic v Welles Newman
(WC) Daniella Britton v (8) Sol Ailin Larraya Guidi (ARG)
Ruien Zhang (CHN) v (WC) Liv Zingg
(Q/LL) v (WC) Megan Knight
(7) Mariia Makarova (***) v (WC) Edie Griffiths
(WC) Ophelia Korpanec Davies v Alyssa James (JAM)
(WC) Tegan Bush v (4) Victoria Luiza Barros (BRA)
Tereza Hermanova (CZE) v (WC) Annabel Wong
Hollie Smart v Renee Alame (AUS)

The rankings are the rankings

But I'm hoping that Tegan can work her unconventional magic on Barros, who's not been having great results on grass

Makarova is a basher and Edie is on good form so who knows....

Dani should have too much for Sol who is more a clay courter

Welles is a good player - that'll be interesting

The Aussies think a lot of the Alame sisters, and Hollie isn't at her best on grass, but I'm always hopeful

Adding to the intrigue Mika has not played a junior match all year, and there have been a few instances of highly ranked WTA players struggling in a grand slam to get used to the rhythm of the juniors, one example being Akasha Urhobo two years ago - who lost to Mika

R1 (L64)

(WC) Sophie Bekker v (13) Felitsata Dorofeeva-Rybas (***)    Ct 4 match 2
(12) Mika Stojsavljevic v Welles Newman
(WC) Daniella Britton v (8) Sol Ailin Larraya Guidi (ARG)
Ruien Zhang (CHN) v (WC) Liv Zingg                                     Ct 4 match 4
(Q) Carrie-Anne Hoo (USA) v (WC) Megan Knight
(7) Mariia Makarova (***) v (WC) Edie Griffiths
(WC) Ophelia Korpanec Davies v Alyssa James (JAM)               Ct 6 match 4
(WC) Tegan Bush v (4) Victoria Luiza Barros (BRA)                  Ct 5 match 3
Tereza Hermanova (CZE) v (WC) Annabel Wong                      Ct 6 match 2
Hollie Smart v Renee Alame (AUS)

I always enjoy watching a bit of the British juniors. Looking forward to hopefully seeing a bit this week. Anyone wanna give us all some tips about who to watch and why? Who are our best prospects here - both for this tournament and for the long term? Only one I know much about is Mika and I don't have time to research the others more.

Dani Britton is the top pick - she's the 18U national champion, although only 15 - try and watch her match

Meg Knight is born in 2011, and has had a LOT of focus, but is really struggling this year

I want to see a bit of Edie's match, and Tegan's match, but that's partly because of their opponents too

Some pretty good tennis in Sophie's match. She clawed her way back into the first set but lost serve at *4-5

Annabel was well in that first set - but SO many of her balls fly 6 inches long - she must see that it's klling her - and adjust - there were three in the last game of the first set alone

Both girls played well in parts, but while Sophie never looked like she was a possible winner, as CD said Annabel could definitely have swung things her way with a few less mistakes.

Sophie out 6-4 6-2

Annabel out 6-4 6-3

Tegan levels her match against the fourth seed at one set all.
