I know nothing about 22 yo Roan and his official 13/07 ranking is indeed WR 1981 on 1 point, with a CH 1967.

BuI I had noticed him recently winning quite a few qualifying matches, then last week in Tunisia he came through qualifying and reached the QF for 2 points, taking him currently to live ranked 1612 on 3 points for 20/07.

Now here he has again come through qualifying and getting better again, reaching the SF for a further 4 points, and beating the 2nd and 8th seeds, WRs 549 and 869 respectively. This will so far take him up to 7 points at 27/07 and a projected ranking in the 1300s.

Anyone know rather more about him?

For what it's worth, Lambda had him in a list in May last year:

Roan Jones (Alabama, junior) played at No 2

I was disappointed when I did the usual check after Monday's results to find that his ranking had dropped back from 1967 to 1981.

For what it's worth, Lambda had him in a list in May last year:

Roan Jones (Alabama, junior) played at No 2  

 Looks like Roan is doing his senior year at North Carolina (Toby Samuel's alma mater)
