Race to the USO

Oliver has withdrawn before the Liberec MD has started. "Knee" - hope nothing too bad. So his US Open Q cut-off points settle at 247 points, hopefully enough.

So I'd say we stand at 9 almost certainly into Q, Oli more likely in than out on 247 points, Jay more likely out than in on 236 points ( and also seemingly not playing this week ). Anyone else needs a big to huge week.

Thanks Indy - forgive me, has USO main draw entry list happened, probably too late for Jake with his run this week?

Yes, it's out, based on the current ( 20/07 ) rankings with Jake WR 121 so fairly well out.

So 3 in the MD - Arthur, Cam and Jan. Unless Jack D stays fit and produces form in the next few weeks and they surprisingly (?) kindly give him a MD WC.

Jack got a WC into Washington - so it remains a possibility

After our top 10 ( 3 on the MD list and 7 that will certainly make the qualifying list ) we have the US Open qualifying cut-off 03/08 live rankngs ( which could clearly drop a bit for these not playing )::

Live ranked 216 on 259 pts - Henry S - not playing - very probably done enough
Live ranked 217 on 259 pts - Felix G - not playing - very probably done enough
Live ranked 223 on 247 pts - Oliver C - not playing - I think that will be good enough
Live ranked 235 on 236 pts - Jay C - not playing - possible but must hope for a lowish ultimate cut-off

After them :
Live ranked 252 on 216 pts - Max B - playing in Samsun Ch 50 - probably needs at least the final for a net 24 points addition
Live ranked 260 on 209 pts - Alastair G - not playing - surely too low
Live ranked 268 on 204 pts - Giles H - not playing - surely too low
Live ranked 281 on 192 pts - Charles B - playing in Vancouver Ch 125 - probably needs at least the final for a net 61 points addition

No-one else further down is playing in Challengers this week.

Thanks Indy - interesting that not many of these are actually playing. And, in general, don't appear to be chasing this as a real target to achieve, at least not obviously

Yes that's it - your original first post leading players including "Contenders" - with your "Got a lot to do" players definitely ultimately having too much to do, though yes helps if you actually play, although some like George L ( down for the Roehampton M25 next week.) may have been injured.

Henry and Felix ( both probably done enough ) are on the Lexington Challenger list for next week.

Charles B put up a good effort in his opener in Vancouver but no joy. Haven't checked how Max is getting on in Samsun but it looks like any chase for USO places is effectively done and dusted now, bar him pulling out a big week

There's good points to be picked up during the slam qualification week elsewhere. If the best a player can hope for is a maybe and hanging on till the last minute to see if they get in or not then personally I think they're better off looking for an opportunity to gain points with the next slam in mind. Same with the FO, barely any of our players are any good on clay but they wasted 3 weeks getting used to a surface so they could go out in the 1st round of FO qualifying. Next year just stay on your best surface, get some decent points in the bag and rock up to qualifying. Jan does the opposite, sticks to the clay to the last possible moment, accumulating points and look where it's got him.

Max lost in R2 for just a 4 ( net 3 ) ranking points addition

I'd say that leaves GB #14 Jay ( live ranked 236 on coincidentally 236 points ).as our last realistic Q list contender with GB #15 Max next ( live ranked 249 on 219 points ).

Qualifying list is out. Felix and Henry are in. Oli Crawford is 5th alt

I'd be confident that Oliver, 5th alt at WR 225, will make it in the end. But it's looking probably too much of a stretch for Jay WR 238.

Not sure if it helps but Monfils has been given a (reciprocal) MDWC
