All the best in the MD, Anton.

His latest WR 373 is a further CH and that's 5 more points ( net 4 ) for qualifying here.

Add 16 MD points for reaching the QF and Anton is now live ranked 340

QF:  (ALT) Max Hans Rehberg (GER) WR 409 (CH = 230 in March last year) vs (Q) Anton Matusevic WR 373

Should've been the Hungarian top seed, Piros (WR 119).  Rehberg's just beaten him by 3 & 4...

Bit of a crazy end to the first set TB but Anton comes away with the honours

Very close though

Pity

Clearly a pretty huge ask but, being a Challenger 125, if Anton had sneaked into the SF he would then have been 'just' 2 wins and the title away from catapulting himself to very probably getting on the US Q list with a guaranteed 256 points.

As it is, reaching the QF will still take him to a further CH. Currently live ranked 342 on 152 points.

Didn't see the rest but there wasn't anything between them in the bits I watched - but someone's got to get the win, of course

And, yes, it's all going in the right direction (if Anton is truly giving tennis his full attention, which would be great for fans)

This implies that Anton wasn't giving tennis his full attention in the past? ;)

I don't think he was - and it's not an insult

Anton is a real polyglot

He did his degree at UCL (Economics and Stats?)

And he did some extra six month Certificate program in applied Data Science.

And i got the feeling that he was doing some work placement at one point (though I might be wrong) but his dad is a City banker, I believe (HSBC?), and Anton's certainly always said he likes to have his fingers in a lot of pies, so to speak

Anyway, again, I might be wrong but from his playing schedule and wherever I definitely got the impression that he was doing some other things as well as tennis, and - equally - I get the feeling that he's now focusing 'properly' on tennis

He passed a grade 8 piano  exam with distinction, (as I did), though I think at the age of 22.
