Well, I'm sure some of you won't be surprised but Brooke has just beaten Emily 6-4 6-1.

Brooke took all 4 of her break points, Emily just 1 out of 8.

I thought it would be closer than that but looks like Brooke ran away with the second set

Maybe Emily got confused about losing the first set when Brooke had only won 5 games

Well done to Hannah

Monika plays well above her current ranking, more like somewhere close to her ranking a couple of years ago

And Hannah had to hang tough in that match, it wasn't easy

But our girl got the win, 7-5 7-5, turning on the burners at the end in both sets

Adithya Karunaratne has a CH of WR 278 - but the name means nothing to me

Hannah seems to have matured so much this summer in her manner on court, she rarely seems to get flustered and has come through several tight matches showing strong resilience

I wonder if she's a relative of the former Sri Lanka test cricket captain Dimuth Karunaratne, apparently she was born in Sri Lanka before moving to HK at a young age

Yes, it's been great to hear folk's thoughts on her much better on court demeanour and to see these results being achieved. Real talent allied to real attitude is a great combination. Hopefully lots to look forward to as she incrementally improves her game.
