Alicia scrapes over the line thanks to a couple of UEs on big points by Sonja. Sonja saved match point a couple of games earlier and then played a great return game to get back on serve at 5-4* but Alicia broke again to win. That was tight but great for Alicia's chances of making US Open qualies smile

 Yes - I saw that yesterday too - the man has to earn a crust, or at least be seen to be so being biggrin - Mika has obviously ghosted him while she gets some decent summer hols smile - and Jeremy has attached himself to the nearest, highest ranking player he can find, rather Kartal-like

Alicia will be reliant on the LTA for her coaching now. Sam Mannix who has coached her since graduating and was one of her college coaches is returning to college coaching starting her new position on Saturday.

 Alicia is 23, she doesn't have to use the LTA - nothing obligatory about that - and, even assuming that's a given, nothing mandatory about having Jeremy, surely?

She's on the PTP programme at the moment and that says:

"Players selected for the PTP will be offered a f i n a n c i a l g r a n t s c h o l a r s h i p o f n o r m a l l y b e t w e e n £ 1 5 , 0 0 0 a n d £ 4 0 , 0 0 0 (subject to conditions of funding) in order to facilitate a fulltime coaching programme."

So she can use the money as she wishes, as part of the 'individual development plan'

Jodie loses a very tight first set 8-6 in the tie break, there was a great point at 6-6 which Du Pree won with a volley into the corner after Jodie tried to pass her following a long rally and then Jodie went long on set point. Both players more comfortable returning than on serve

 

Edit: Jodie picked up a point penalty before the second set started, unsure what for?

I noticed that the scoreboard was a little ahead of the action at times - it seemed as if the video was perhaps 19 seconds behind ?

Didn't notice any point penalty, but then I wasn't watching every point.

The ITF Tour Live point by point shows only 3 points were played at the start of the second set so I went back on stream to check if the umpire had called anything and managed to hear it but couldn't tell what was wrong

Jodie has been getting better as the match has gone on, just broken to go *5-3 up in the second, hopefully she can serve it out

 

Edit: She couldn't, a backhand half way up the net and a wild forehand give Du Pree the break back
