Having lost the first set hes now up 3-0. Found his feet hopefully. His opponent, also a leftie has quite a contraption on his arm signifying some issue/injur there also. Jacks clothing sponsors need the sack. Well, may be comfortable, which is very important but otherwise just looks a mess and from one angle shorts look life a diaper!

He seemed to stop hitting the ball properly in third set. Either struggling with injury or conditioning.

First of all great win for Jake, good to see.

Jack just terrible to see - clearly distraught , arm must be a mess. Needs to just stop, rest, get it right. So sad. Come on Jack!

If it is the arm then to my my mind Jack and his advisers are just being plain stupid in seemingly constantly looking to play when they think it is good to go. Recent withdrawals have shown thinking about it then doubt.

The experts say rest is the only real cure ( and I would guess playing and suffering would now mean yet more rest than if he hadn't played? ). So if it is the arm rest it properly for the rest of this year anyway.

I just don't understand why he would have that reaction to 'just' conditioning and / or form.

Clearly terrible for Jack and got to sympathise that he can't display his huge talent in the game he loves but ...

Not sure WTF is up with some of the teams around our players. We had Sonay clearly play with an injury, Emma withdrawing last minute after finally having a scan and now Jack with the stop/starting all year.

Tom Kershaw confirms the tears in his report on the match in today's Times, which only subscribers will be able to read in full & to which I continue to be unable to provide an archive link. It's headed "Jack Draper in tears as latest return from injury ends in defeat" & the first paragraph reads as follows:

Jack Draper has endured so many false dawns of late that it has felt impossible to see the light. An 11th-hour withdrawal from Wimbledon was followed by an aborted comeback at the Washington Open because of the same arm injury that has plagued him for more than a year. The 24-year-old was finally able to return at the Montreal Masters, but a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 defeat by Térence Atmane in the first round left him hunched over in his chair in floods of tears during the deciding set as the toll of another brutal setback began to sink it.

And news of Andy's involvement:

.... his coaching partnership with Andy Murray is set to continue for the time being at least, having initially only been scheduled for the grass-court season.

Draper has repeatedly hailed the calming and analytical influence the Scotsman has brought to his team, but Murray was not in the box in Montreal, having travelled with Draper to Washington last week, where he was forced to withdraw after practising on site. LTA coach Alexandre Lisiecki deputised in Murray's absence, but the latter is expected to take the lead in New York if Draper does play there.

The news section of the ATP site has a link to a super shot by Jack at the start of the first set, not to mention a glimpse of the ghastly kit he was wearing as mentioned by JC earlier ("diaper", JC? Agree with the allusion, though).
