Re comment on Coe v.Ovett era apart from the majors they rarely raced each other. At least Dina and Amy raced each other . I would have liked Keily and Georgia to have  been in  the same race. It was sad to see KJT finishing last in the hepthalon.Maybe not the place to mention it here but Amy was born  in the same town and went to the same school as a former British PM.

Yes, very good point re Coe & Ovett. In flinging that one out there, tbf I'd forgotten how they very rarely competed against each other. In fact, reading back, it was 'just' really in some ways more a great rivalry in folks' minds, with both so good yet very different. Great non championship particularly 1500m and mile races took place outside major championships but not with both of them in the same race.

Moscow 1980 had seemed almost peak rivalry, where they each didn't race their stronger events well, yet only a European Championships 1978 meeting and schools cross country meeting beforehand. Afterwards not much other than their 2 LA 1984 meetings, such as they were, and post the 1981 season Ovett had various injury and illness issues that largely compromised him thereafter. Certainly not really a great example of an ongoing H2H rivalry.
