The women's doubles draw is due to be released tomorrow (01/09) and the men's the day after. Going to be interesting to see how they affect people's perception

Men's singles over and done. Looks like we have Fran and Harriet going today, doesn't appear to be any women's doubles or men's doubles on the schedule from a British perspective.

Is it just me or with the doubles pushed back for men and women to start later and with the mixed last week, the US Open feels like a very slow slam in terms of action and getting going? Certainly in terms of this prediction competition, it feels like it's a lot slower than the other slams!

 It would have been "crikey!!" if our singles players had already knocked anyone at all out of contention     Overall they've done not bad so far ( though 5 singles wins wlll probably be as far ...  - though you go for it Fran and Harriet! )

 we managed 6 singles wins in total last year, I believe (Cam and Emma won R2 matches) so similar this year. We ended up landing on 15 wins in total, so just the 9 doubles wins. Telstar ended up winning the contest having predicted 17 and being the lowest predictor!

 I calculate that we can achieve 44 wins in total. I may be wrong but hopefully close!

Current - 5

WD - 11 more

MD - 28 more (this may be one or two out but close enough).

So, 44 is well above the top prediction of 24 and well above the top named prediction (emmsie69) of 21. On the other hand, it could start to fall quite rapidly today and tomorrow as the first round of doubles matches are played! 

 

With British players in 5 matches today and 5 more tomorrow, we could also see the bottom end of the predictions get overtaken this weekend. Basically, the action starts here in this competition!!
