Good win for Swan. Looked sweltering out there, and Swan adapted well to Brantmeier's rather passive game, in effect turning the tables by taking pace off the return and letting Brantmeier be the one taking risks. The clenched fist celebration at the end shows how much it meant to get the win today. Well done, Katie.

Missed the end of Katie's match but very pleased she got over the line, it was the depth of Katie's hitting that was troubling Brantmeier from what I saw. Brantmeier had a very effective and heavy slice that she used to get Katie out of position but it always felt like Katie had the advantage from the baseline

Disappointing that Katie, Naiktha and Alicia are all in the same half of the draw but potentially an Alicia vs Katie quarter final which would be fascinating to watch
