As usual - top 2 qualify for Player of the Season. No tie breaker for first place or second, top places can be shared.
We got 46 votes last month, a record for the year and best in some time, so I hope we manage to get somewhere near that again this month. The more the merrier!
Nominations:
1. Daniella Britton - won the J300 US Open warm up event in Canada, seeded 6th, with some battling wins, representing her biggest world ranking title to date. After the US Open she was RU in anorher J300 event, in Spain. This saw the 15 yo rise to around the top 20 in the junior world rankings, now clearly the top ranked GB girl.
2. Rhys Lawlor - seeded 15th, reached the final of the J300 in Canada where he lost narrowly in the final. Also won the doubles title here in tandem with Mark Ceban. And then again with Mark he reached the US Open doubles SF.
3. Hannah Klugman - the 17 yo's first ITF senior title is a good one - Portugal W50 singles title, beating Linda Fruhvirtova ( WR 174, CH 49 ) in the final with positive play after earlier beating two top 300 players and a top 400 player. Takes her up to a new CH ( provisionally live ranked 342 ), GB #10, and is #7 ranked under 18 in the world.
4 . Neal Skupski- winning the US Open mens doubles final as the last surviving Brit . Achieved his 5th slam and Along with Christian Harrison his second this year . Fine win over top seeded Henry and partner in the semis and straight sets in the final meant no sets dropped in the tournament.. Talk about dedication to doubles he has now played over 550 matches in his career and still going strong . Now Neal needs a French Open to have won them all.
5. Matthew Knoesen - won singles and doubles in the boys wheelchair event at the US Open, cementing his world number one status.
6. Alfie Hewett - for winning the singles and doubles in the US Open wheelchair event! The singles title is his fifth USO title, 11th singles grand slam title overall and he beat world number one , Oda, in the final. The doubles, with Gordon Reid, was their first USO title in doubles since 2021. Went on to be part of the World Cup winning team later in the month, winning the deciding doubles with Gordon against Japan
7. Sofia Johnson - the 22 yo fresh from college entered 2026 with no WTA ranking. Just 9 months later, in the first 2 weeks of September she reached two Portugal W50 SFs, and in the later 2 wewks won QR1 in each of two WTA 125s, to rise from WR 459 to live ranked 372 ( and GB #12). In the course of reaching the 2 SFs she beat 4 top 300 players ( WRs 162, 191, 215, and 230 ), so trebling such career wins from 2 to 6. Very encouraging for the future.
8. Imogen Haddad - winning the WTT15 title in Monastir from qualifying. Eight wins in the week after coming through three rounds of qualifying unseeded and then 5 main draw wins, including the 8, 1, 5 and 3 seeds ranked 934,251,651 and 521. Prior to this week her highest ranked opponent victory was in the high 800s. The title gives her her first WTA ranking of around 1075.
9. Max Basing - as 7th seed won the Istanbul 75 Challenger, his first Challenger title, without dropping a set, beating (2) Butvalas WR 195 in the QF for his 3rd top 200 win. Saw him rise to a CH 219 (GB #11). With just 53 ranking points due off during the rest of this year, he doesn't look to have to add too much more to make Australian Open qualifying.
10. GB Men's Wheelchair Team - winning the World Cup and becoming World Champions in Florida, the team of Gordon Reid, Alfie Hewett and Ben Bartram beat Korea, Netherlands and Japan to regain the title.
11. Ben Bartram - what a month for British wheelchair tennis as Ben takes his biggest title of his career, winning the WC250 Sardinian Open. Seeded 4, he overcame the top seeded American, Ratzlaff, in the final. Also part of the GB World Cup winning team, winning a rubber in the QF defeat of Korea.
12. Clarice Ouvarova - the 15 yo won all 8 singles and doubles J30 events she competed in in Honduras and Nicaragua in September. The 4 doubles titles were with Sofia Mills (USA) who Clarice also beat in 3 of these singles finals. Alhough some smallish / very snall fields she still won 44 out of 45 sets during the month, the last 34 consecutively. In September she has won as many titles as any other GB senior or junior player has won in the whole year to date ( Alicia Dudeney and Finn Murgett have each won 8 ).
13. Luke Johnson - first ATP250 title of the season in Chengdu, in his last event with his partner Jan Zielinsky, making it Luke's third title at ATP tour level

As always, some great performances this month. But I am afraid two things stand out - we have Neal winning his second grand slam title of the year and that is pretty impressive. And from nowhere really, no one could have anticipated winning that after the season he has had since the AO title win.
And Alfie Hewett - not only winning singles and doubles, and being part of the World Cup winning team, but beating Tokito Oda in the final was a massive achievement.
I am not sure how many other people will vote for those e.g. Henry didnt do well off the back of Wimbledon mens doubles and I am not sure how many others really vote for doubles or wheelchair players. SO I cant vote tactically at all and hope others pick up the slack.
On balance, I just have to vote for Alfie - it was a marvellous achievement and edges my vote over Neal 51-49, but only just - 50.1 to 49.9 more likely!
I'm going for Hannah for cementing what has been a summer of progression with her first title, her maturity and ability to remain focused even when she's found it tough going but still grinding out a win has been very encouraging to watch and a noticeable change from prior
Thanks sammmm - it is amazing how we all find and see different things in players and their months! I would never even have thought of Hannah but there you go!
And that is the beauty of this - we all see different things and I am sure others look at my Alfie vote and go "what?!".

I have only just noticed what Imogen did and that was impressive. Have to say, it has been a month I haven't paid any attention really since the USO, so reading again, players like Imogen and Sofia and Hannah did have some impressive performances. Good to see!

No titles but a month of such solid achievement, still in her first proper tour year, with some very good wins. It was a kind of proper breakout month that impacted on me as the month that said, keep fit and healthy, and here I am confident will be a top 200 player in the next year or so and maybe a fair bit beyond that. Actually viewing some of her matches just reinforced these thoughts.
While ultimately it will often be what had most impact on a voter during one week or the month as a whole but it's good to have that overview.
