What a week and what a month for Sonay, incredible run! What does this mean her entering tournaments as she still has a PR, if she enters a tournament based on her current ranking would she be seeded/drawn based on that or her PR?

Seeded on her actual WR. PR is just a tournament entry option, which she is fast making irrelevant

Thanks Indi, shes certainly made the most of her PR and timed her return for when she was very ready

Indeed, very relevant and useful to get into these WTA 1000 MDs to get going, and how get going.
I susoect she was kind of ready for a fair time, given she played as soon as the 6 month PR period was up, but still without matchplay for so long, going into BJK Cup and then these WTA 1000s.
Incredible result and week - what an outstanding comeback for Sonay. Hopefully her SR should only be for some of the big tournaments in the Middle East with a high ranking cut off. But shes not going to need them for the slams now, what a performer.
Incredible results from Sonay. Just watched the brief WTA highlights of her win over Paolini, and managed to find some longer highlights of the Svitolina match, so looking forward to watching those later.
This is a rather wide-open WTA 1000. Chwalinska is mounting a bit of a run as well which is nice to see, took out Jovic and currently 1 set all in the quarters against Sakkari. Swiatek must probably be the favourite.
Hard to call the Kartal-Ostapenko semi. Both of their previous matches have been on grass last year with Jelena winning 6-3, 7-6 at Eastbourne and Sonay winning 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 at Wimbledon.
With the higher bouncing hard courts allowing Sonay to get the balls up higher and out of the Ostapenko strike zone, who knows...!
