I've just  watched the last couple of games  and final set tie break between Cruze Hewitt and Rigele Te, which Hewitt won 13-11 having several match points. He was 0-40 down on his serve at 5-5.   Huge hitting from both guys.

With Cruz yer to celebrate his 18th birthay, it is hard to imagine him not being a top player in years to come.

How does Cruz's game and style match up to his Dad? Lleyton was a right old terrier, never gave up, in your face type of player, not massive power but never missed and always fought. Could play on most surfaces as well, if I recall. Is Cruz cut from the same cloth?

Cruz is a much bigger hitter than his Dad. Lleyton was more of a counter puncher and had a fabulous return of serve.   Cruz missed some forehands at critical points, but he was striking the ball ferociously. Absolutely no playing safe on the big points!

I hope that Liam can put some wins together this week.

Cool, thanks. I remember Hewitt in that Wimbledon final with Nalbandian (was it 2002?). First final I think of as the first real baseliners final, when the game shifted post Sampras, Ivanisevic, Henman etc and the Beckers and Edbergs and post COurier and Agassi starting to make an impact on grass from the back court. I think that year was when the new grass had come in and the courts slowed down and Hewitt took advantage of that. Hewitt and Agassi together are the two real counterpunchers of that era that stand out, Connors before them. Now they are ten a penny!!
