Here we are, after a 5 week nomination process this month. As usual, if you vote, do tell us if you can, who you vote for and what prompted that vote. It helps make it more interesting!
Vote will close Wednesday evening at 10pm.
Remember, anyone can vote and can vote for whoever they feel is most deserving - there is no wrong or right here!!
As usual - top 2 qualify for Player of the Season. No tie breaker for first place or second, top places can be shared.
We got 46 votes in August, a record for the year and best in some time, so I hope we manage to get somewhere near that again this month. The more people who vote and take part, the more interesting it is!
Nominations:
1. Amelia Rajecki - winning the WTA125 doubles title (with Madeleine Brooks) in Jingshan, China. Millie's second title at this level. Climbing up the rankings towards the top 100 and close to her CH of 121
2 Gordon Reid - after winning the French Riviera Open wheelchair mens doubles title in Nice, Gordon re-ascends to outright top spot in the world rankings, edging ahead of his partner and good friend, Alfie Hewett. Having won three of this seasons grand slam mens doubles titles, a well deserved accolade for Gordon. He backed it up by then taking the WC500 title, the Paratennis du Loiret, by beating Gustavo Fernandez in the final.
3 Cornelia Oosthuizen - aged 47, Cornelia becomes British number one in wheelchair women's singles for the first time (world ranking of 20) in the 5th October rankings release.
4: Sonay Kartal - for being the first British player to reach the final of a WTA 1000 since Jo Konta in 2019. With huge wins over Kalinina, Bencic , Paolini, Svitolina and Ostapenko she reached the Wuhan final rising from a ranking of 170 to the top 50 . Her performance in outlasting world no 6 Svitolina ( who is enjoying her best ever year ) was especially impressive And she followed it up with a really gutsy 2 close tiebreak straight sets win over Ostapenko. In beating Paolini, Svitolina and Ostapenko she out fought 3 of the biggest fighters there are. She looked set to win the final too at a set and a break up but ultimately ran out of gas. All this after that 6 month injury absence. Phenomenal from Sonay.
5. Cameron Fryer & Kyle McKay - present and at least past of Stirling University, aged 21 & 20 respectively, with no ATP rankings in singles or doubles, the pair won the Redbridge M25 doubles title, beating the 2nd, 3rd & 4th seeds along the way. Kyle also came through qualifying and won his MD R1 to earn a singles ranking. The following week the lads were RU in the Sheffield M25 doubles, thus in 2 weeks taking them each from unranked to inside the top 1000.
6. Ella McDonald - won both the singles and doubles ( with Kyle Collins, USA ) titles at the Austin, TX W50, the singles from qualifying and beating Madison Brengle WR 192 in the final. In her first tournament this month Ella reached the Templeton, CA W100 singles SF also from qualifying, and she finished the month by beating Elvina Kalieva WR111 ( already well on top before a retirement in set 2 ) in the New Braunfels, TX W100 R1. Her singles ranking has risen from WR 423 at the start of the month to a CH live ranked 316 and GB #9.
7. Hannah Klugman won the WTT 100 tournament in Wrexham, beating 3 experienced top 200 players (Siskova, Sramkova and Jaquemot) as well as our own Jodie Burrage en route to the title. She showed great composure and maturity and didn't drop a set all week. She then had good run to the semi-final in Glasgow before finally running out of steam. She became the youngest GB woman to win a title at W100 level and will achieve a new CH of 234 in the 02/11 rankings.
8. Oliver Tarvet - back to back British M25 singles titles, losing just two sets en route and taking him to what will be a new career high ranking around 250 as a result. Over the month, including action in a challenger 100 qualies and main draw, he amassed a 13-1 win/loss record.
9. Madeleine Brooks:- A very consistent month playing at a higher level. She won Jingshan W125 (with Amelia Rajecki) - first title at this level and fourth title this year. She also reached the SF in Suzhou WTA125 and the final in Courmayer WTA125. She has equalled her CH of 104 (live rankngs disagree and sh could be higher) and is GB #4 in doubles
10. Harriet Dart for finally being a WTA champion, winning the WTA250 in Guangzhou. Coming through qualifying, playing multiple 3 set matches, facing MPs against the Junior WR 1 and then holding her nerve in the Final few games. She will be back in the top 100 on Monday at WR84

I had a big shout out to Hannah and Ella this month in my thinking, but it comes down to Sonay and Harriet for me. Hard to stack up anyone against a W1000 finalist but a first career WTA tour title is pretty big - I can't divide them really. Sonay has won plenty of these PoM votes over the years, so Harriet gets my vote this month!
If you vote please say and why you voted for that player- not obligatory but it helps maintain the thread and could persuade others to follow your lead!
Miss clicked I went Brooks and meant to Dart (apologies to her)
But Maddie will be thrilled
I should expect so! Serves me right doing it in a rush... sure Harriet will get enough anyway!
Hi Danny - listen, I have done this before and for a genuine mistake I am happy to take it on trust!
Seriously, if you meant Harriet and not Maddie, I am happy to take a manual adjustment, just say if you would like to swap it and I am happy to change the tally in my head when counting up the votes, count one more for Harriet and one less for Maddie.
That goes for anyone - if it is a genuine error, please shout asap ie within an hour or so, and I will happily take it on trust that you made a mistake and adjust the tally when adding up who has what number of votes.
Jon - I can correct your font size if you wish - it is easy to do.
Thanks TA - it was fiddly on my phone so I couldn't manage it easily and was about to start driving, but am on my laptop now and managed to get it done. Thanks for the offer.
As an aside, not sure when you cut and paste from somewhere it changes the size of the font in the destination from the origin post, sometimes but not others, but it often seems to do it when I copy across the nominations order into this thread. Anyway, fixable
PS I also noticed Harriet was originally the 10th nomination and Maddie 9th, but when I created the poll I transposed them in the poll listing. It is too late to change them in the poll listing as votes have been cast so I have changed them in the nominations listing, which makes no difference to the voting or the tally.

Let me know, Danny, but please do it asap. Thanks
Yes please! I am not always someone to praise Dart but this week was worth and more :) so if that's possible that'd be great! Sure I clicked right then clicked Maddie didn't think it has swapped then as I clicked vote it changed

No worries - I will try not to confuse myself when adding up the votes but we will count plus 1 for Harriet and minus 1 for Maddie.
I didn't make any changes to the poll order at all, don't think anything should have shifted, I just changed the nominations write up to make it align, but it shouldn't have impacted the poll itself in anyway! But who knows!!
I was sure I would vote for Sonay. Then, as usual when the weeks pass, others come to the forefront. Hannah had a brilliant month and I could well vote for her. Harriet's title this week was immense and so deserving of my vote.
But I am going back to Sonay. Just such a joy to see her back on court and doing so well so soon!
