Ram calls the trainer. This is very bad news for Israel, who will be counting on the doubles world number 12 on Saturday
GREAT NEWS
GB skipper Jeremy Bates is pestering the umpire, wondering what the rule is on injury time-outs when it's not a changeover. That's a bit uncharitable, given the state of the match. Now Murray's asking for the trainer, but it doesn't look like he'll get his wish. "You think this is legitimate?" Bates asks an official, pointing at Ram. "It's a joke." Feisty stuff from Jezza.
Murray 2-6 4-6 7-5 6-2 3-1 Ram Murray's squeeze Kim Sears looks a happy woman. Earlier, she took her eyes off the action to enjoy a 99 (with flake) but she's transfixed now. Her man won't finish off with a bagel here though as Ram stops the rot.
Murray 2-6 4-6 7-5 6-2 4-1 Ram Another roar from Murray as he holds to love. Ram gets some more treatment at the changeover, prompting Bates to bug the umpire again about the rules. The man in the chair has certainly earned his money today.
Andy has only lost 1 point on his serve so far this set 4*-2
Murray 2-6 4-6 7-5 6-2 5-2 Ram Ram is hardly moving his feet now and it's just possible that Murray might have turned this tie in Britain's favour simply by keeping the Israeli out here for five sets instead of three. The doubles match is a must-win for Israel and Ram will surely be feeling the effects of this. Murray is a game away from winning his first match from two sets down. He's still grumbling about the photographer, mind.
Assuming this goes Andy's way, I'm please for the Davis Cup, the UK, Scotland and Andy what what a crabbie style! I suppose a win is a win but what a lacklustre start!
"I played a really bad first set," Murray told BBC Sport after recovering from two sets down to win a match for the first time in his career.
"I couldn't concentrate, but to be fair, for a doubles player, I thought he was playing really good tennis.
"Three times I had 0-30 in the second set but I couldn't get my returns in or he got some good pick-ups, but as soon as I broke him in the third set the whole match changed."
He added: "The crowd were excellent. They really kept me going."
Murray played absolutely rubbish tennis - didnt even make ram sweat - wasnt running down many pts and not stepping in on the second serve much. Third set was very similar but at times we saw what andy can do and thankfully he broke at the right time! Then it was pretty much one way traffic - andy was playing good stuff (not "great" as lloyd kept on saying). Got the job done though ...and to come back from 2 sets down will hopefully do wonders for his confidence. Don't read to much into Ram's 'injury'/fatigue cos he still managed to hold to love but i think tomorrow he'll be fine....depends how long tomorrows match is in determining how tired he will be for sunday singles (hopefully its still a live tie or if its dead, we've won it!!!).
Is it just me who thinks jeremy bates is rubbish? Andy was clearly frustrated and bates should have either calmed him down or give him a good talking to - instead he gave it to the umpire. For me it seemed like a sign to murray that his own unwarranted petulance is fine. Ok sometimes a little aggressiveness and disputing with the umpire is understandable but bates was just squabbling over petty things and in turn encouraged andy to...(the LTA should give me a call - i could do a better job )
At least he kept the tie alive! disappointing for boggo, maybe he doesn't like the pressure of playing for his country. i wonder if andy will still play in the doubles. if he does play, and they win the rubber, then it looks like andy will have to win the tie in the last rubber
