Hopefully Josh isn't too discouraged by the careless game he played at 4-3, this was quite a close set. Really needs to keep fighting in the 2nd and believe he can win this
Looking at Llodra's activity, he hasn't actually had much success on outdoor hard this year. His best results have come indoors and on clay. After the French Open he took a long break, maybe through injury - surprisingly missing the entire grass court season and returned to action at the start of August, losing in rd1 of Segovia and rd2 of Bronx [though he beat Marin Cilic, former world junior no 1, in straight sets in rd1 there].
He's been as high as 38 in singles, so has a lot of experience and class at this level and he's also been up to no 8 in doubles. His last match against a Brit was v Jonny Marray in Adelaide qualies earlier this year. Llodra won 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. If you look far back enough in this section, Jonny wrote a match report for us.
Of course, Llodra was involved in the famous incident in Miami 2005 with Ivan Ljubicic. On returning after a match, Ivan opened his locker and discovered a naked Michael Llodra curled up inside. Llodra's explanation was that as ivan had been winning a lot of matches, he was trying to get positive energy from him.
Llodra is also the only player I've heard of to have completely stripped on court. in South America for a challenger, he bet the tournament organiser that if he won the doubles, he and his partner would completely strip on court. After winning the final they did so, received the trophy and apparently made the winner's speech to the crowd while completely naked and didn't get dressed again until he got back in the locker room. The tournament organiser and the crowd were reportedly crying with laughter.
Good job it was in South America, if it was at a British challenger he would probablu have been arrested for indecent behaviour in public, lol
