Qualifying rd1: D Tarpov [Bul][9] bt P Barlow [GB] 6-3, 6-2

Rd1: J May [GB] v T Cazes [Fr]

Jim faces Frenchman Thomas Cazes-Carrer who was the last direct acceptance with a ranking of 1133, 335 places below Jim. He hasn't played since July, he's been out after sustaining an injury in a futures qualies in Germany so he will be quite rusty. Jim should win this one and if so he's then likely to play the 8th seed who's ranked just 19 places higher. So, probably the best draw he could have hoped for !

Really disappointing result for Jim May

Cazes-Carrer won 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. That was a great opportunity missed, Jim hasn't really been able to find his form in singles on the Bulgarian clay.

Surprisingly, he's not entered the doubles this week.
