Stoppini has a 5-1 record against British players since 2004, beating Goodall, Sherwood, Lee, Baker, Boggo. Richard Bloomfield has been the only one to defeat him, in last October's Southampton challenger when he served the Italian off the court. Hopefully Marray can emulate him.
Mackin has a really tough match against Llodra, the Frenchman has been in supreme form in his 1st two matches, defeating 2nd seed Raemon Sluiter 6-3, 6-3 and beating Lars Burgsmuller 6-3, 6-4 last night. Llodra's a 25 year old leftie ranked 169 with a career high of 38 in singles and 8 in doubles. He's been serving big so far in this tournament and serve-volleying the whole time. Since 2004, Llodra has a 1-4 win-loss record against Brits. Rusedski has beaten him twice, Henman has beaten him once, Goodall won 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 in US Open qualies, his sole win came against Jonny Marray in ATP Adelaide qualifying in January, Llodra won 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Marray v Stoppini is 1st on centre at 12.30pm GMT and Mackin v Llodra is the evening match at 6pm.
30-30: Go Jonny, just two more points to take this set !
30-40: Set point !!!
Game and 1st set Marray
What a fantastic start for Jonny, breaking the Stoppini serve twice and apart from 1 game, holding his own serve extremely easily. And now with that break, he's got the added bonus of serving 1st in the 2nd.
Sorry, didn't catch the points in this game but Marray broke, either to love or to 15
This is fantastic stuff, Marray is completely outplaying him at the moment. The courts in Orleans are extremely fast I hear, so Marray's attacking game works a treat on them and will be putting Stoppini [predominantly a baseliner] under a lot of pressure, and at the moment he can't cope.
6-3, 2*-0
