I couldn't believe it as I was watching the match unfold on the scoreboard. Tim had seemed so in control at 5-2.
However to be fair to Henman, he did little wrong after being 5-2 up and there was little he could do. Spurred on by the vociferous Thai crowd, Srichaphan produced some spectacular shots. He hit some fantastic returns at 5-3 down and in the tiebreak he came up with about 4 brilliant passing shots.
After the match Henman said "Obviously I started off great in the third and served for the match, but I think you have to analyse the points and look at the shots he came up with," said Henman. "Probably those last four or five games and the tie-break were the best tennis he's played against me and you've got to give him credit for that.
"I didn't really feel I did too much wrong. I hit four out of five first serves when I served for the match and he hit a lot of good returns.
"In the tie-break he hit four or five great passing shots. It's a difficult match to lose, but I've certainly got to give him a lot of credit."
"I don't know how I did it," said Srichaphan, who collapsed on to the court in relief after the final point of the 2 hr 26 min match. "What I know is that I was a lot behind, but it was only one break that would get me back into the match. I was playing well when he was serving for the match."
Srichaphan served a fair few double faults in the match but he knew that Henman would be chip-charging so like Bogdanovic the day before, he went for his 2nd serves. In the 2nd and 3rd sets he was hitting so many first serves Henman wasn't able to get to the net enough.
