Tim starts the week by dropping two places as his 35 points for round 2 of Madrid last year fall off. Also losing ground are Vliegen, Rochus, Malisse, Moya and Massu.
As it's Masters week, loads can change: Tim can overtake Andy should he win in Madrid. He can also be overtaken by everyone in the field who's currently ranked below him: all the way down to qualifier Ivan Navarro - Pastor, who's ranked 129.
Tim, Benneteau, Massu, Fish and Srichaphan advance.
Malisse, Moya, Bjorkman and Serra go out.
With Malisse out, the way's clear for a win over Ferrer to take Tim up to 37th.
Safin, Rochus, Vliegen, Monfils and Soderling all play tomorrow. Safin & Rochus should be pinned hard. Vliegen should probably be allowed to see off Tursunov for Andy before we start targetting him.
Don't mean to be picky but why does it say benneteau has only gained 20 points this week so far? Shouldn't it be 50. Oh sorry i have just releaised you hand;t updated his result yet only Tim's.

Not picky at all. just a straightforward ****- up. Corrected! thanks.
Going according to plan so far: Rochus out, Vliegen through for Andy, and as a bonus, Chela's out as well. Nothing standing between Tim and the top 35 (apart from two wins & the crowd queueing up behind him of course)
Pessimists post (if you can call it that) Tim's threats have been falling over themselves to lose so far this week, perhaps they've heard of the AMMBVS and wisely choosing to run away?!
Anways, Tim is only left with four people who can overtake him: Benneteau, Safin, Fish and Srichaphan. Respectively they need to reach (presuming Tim loses third round) the quarters, quarters, semis, semis. So worst case for Tim is ending the week at 41.
Winning his third round match would leave Tim able to lose out to the same four but this time they must reach the semis, semis, semis and final (in same order as above). Benneteau would be the opponenet so only 3 can overtake. Worst case Tim at 37 come the end of the week.
Winning the quarter final means a final, final and win can overtake (Safin, Fish, Srichaphan) so only 1 place can be lost as safin would be the opponent and fish/srichaphan would meet in the semis. worst case, unsure as Tim would also be moving up the rankings so it depends on what people in front do, see optimists post for details! (look down!)
Winning the semi sees Tim threatened by, Fish and Srichaphan winning. Those two would meet in the semis though so again only one place could be lost. once again check out the optimistic post for where Tim might end up.
Winning the final stops anyone behind Tim overtaking, so that seems like a plan to me!
Get pinning those four remaining threats.

If Tim wins his third round, he would definitely gain 4 places to ranking 34.
If Tim then wins the quarters, he would definitely move up 3 places, and possibly 4 more if Soderling, Calleri and Vliegen go out in the second round and Acasuso goes out first round. Best case ranking-wise, 27 worst 31.
If Tim continues winning and takes victory in the semis, he would definitely move up 2 places and could gain 2 more if Hrbaty goes out before the semis and Gasquet goes out before the quarters. Rankings, best 23 worst 25.
If Tim wins the whole thing he would definitely gain 2 more places, and could get another one if Ferrero goes out before the quarters. Ranking, worst 21, best 20 (snapping at the Brit number 1 spot)
