Prince Cup 2006.

12&U begins tomorrow.

The draw should feature Liam Broady, Jonathan Cornish and Jathan Malik.

Jathan is our 12&U number one (rankings wise only I guess, as he has played as many as 15 events, compared to Liam's 6). He won the British nationals this year ahead of Liam, an achievement that can't be underestimated because the fields are pretty strong in the lower age groups.

12&U Results:

Tom Hill lost at 63 75 to Maksim Kan of uzbekistan.
Poelman lost by 3 and 3 to Sungjun Park of South Korea.
Liam defeated Geonju Shin of South Korea by 3 and 1.
Cornish double bagelled Keito Iijima of Japan.
Jathan Malik defeated Diego Pedraza of Colombia by 64 75.

Bernard Tomic of Australia accepted a WC into the 16s. Really odd as he would have been the top seed in the 18s.
It's like Andy Murray deciding that he will play in the Wrexham Challenger.

That was a mistake from the site. Tomic's WC was into the 18s.

18&U Singles:

Peter Francis is the tenth seed. He is listed as "USA" for some reason.

When I click that link for the draw, I get an error page

Who are Broady's main foreign rivals in this event ? Any chance of an all-British final, when are Broady and Malik likely to meet ? Have they played each other before ?

Francis is 17 and ranked in the 300s. Looking at his activity, he's something of an all-court player. Won a G5 on Spanish clay this autumn but this year he's also made the final of a G5 and the semis of G4, indoors.

Now I too am getting an error. Information on foreign 12 year olds is really tough to obtain, so I don't know anything other than a few world class ones. I'll start following more 12 and under tennis next year though.
Don't think that Liam has some serious competitor here barring Nguyen and Jaehwan Kim, and he defeated Nguyen in straight sets at Eddie Herr.

Pete Francis won his match in three sets. Alex Bull qualified and won his first round match.

Broady is through to the semis.
These are his scorelines till now - 61 63; 60 62; 62 61; 61 61.

He plays Kim, as it was expected. Hopefully Liam will overcome him.

Cornish lost in the second round.
Jathan Malik lost in the quarters to the sixth seed in a championship tiebreaker, so it was a good performance from him.

Nguyen is through to the semis. He should be the one facing Liam in the finals.

Peter Francis lost in three sets. Alex Bull lost in straights to the second seed.

Liam lost 16 60 10-4.
His opponent must be really talented.

On to the Junior Orange Bowl then.
