Boggo is on the alts list for both Adeliade and Chennai.....so one of these threads maybe become obsolete depending which one he opts for and unless any other Brit chooses to qualify and makes it.....Jonny Marray, Josh Goodall ????

I think there's a very good chance Alex will get into one of them, since the 8 directly above him on the Alts list are the top 8 above him on the Alts for Chennai. It actually requires 12 players in total for Adelaide and Chennai combined to drop out for Boggo to get in.

Alex would be extremely unlucky not to get direct entry into one of them as there are normally so many withdrawals from the original entry lists at the start of the season.

If he has a choice he'll be going for Chennai I believe.

The only British player who is attempting to qualify for Adelaide is Richard Bloomfield. He's slightly confused as to how it will work with the round-robin system

Brave decision from Bloomers. I hope that the fact that he has improved so much this year and that the courts are now faster will help him.

I think that he will have a great 2007, and beginning the year on the big stage should aid him.

In my opinion, he should go for Sydney or Auckland (preferably Auckland) qualies too. It's pretty unlikely that he will miss AO qualies because of his involvement in either, and in case he does make the quarters, missing AO qualies wouldn't exactly be some sacrifice.

Just my idea, as it's pretty unlikely that there will be too many players taking that route.

As I understand it there will only be 16 qualification places available at Adelaide so he may struggle to get in.

You are right, I guess.

But it could also work out this way - people often have phobias concerning new things, hence few high ranked players enter qualies. As a result, Bloomers ends up qualifying.

I hope that he will go there early, so that the jetlag wouldn't affect him like it did in Rimouski.

He is going to Harry Hopman's at Saddlebrook this winter, right?

Hope you are right but as the Entry List for Adelaide does not contain any players outside the Top 100 it's a big ask that the 16 qualifiers will go down as far as Richard. I am suprised that he and Josh did not enter for Noumea Challenger

Hmmm.... it is a bit risky indeed. Vienna has a 16 man qualies field, and here are the cuts from the last three years - 289 (MD cut: 95), 240 (MD cut: 85), 282 (MD cut: 115).

And Adelaide is in the very first week, meaning that few players will be out action due to injuries and the like.

Just looked at last years qualifying draw and Arvind was seeded 7 despite being ranked around 200 so probably will be ok.

Of course if he gets through 2 rounds of qualifying he then has to play in a KO round just to get into the Round Robin!!

No Bloomers in qualies draw:

Like Boggo, he decided to spend an extra week in Britain before heading down under. Maybe he realised that he wouldn't make the qualies cut.

Bloomers is just playing Aussie Open quals, he's not going for Sydney qualifying at the weekend.

Funny how Andy Murray's photo is the first on the site banner of the official ATP Adelaide 2007 website even though he's not playing there this year

Yep.

And also look at the prize money on offer according to the doubles draw. Players wouldn't mind losing in the first round...

Here is why I dont like RR format.

Hrbaty looses in the 'First Round' today against a Qualifier Peter Luczak which is a great result for Luczak and he should have been rewarded with a 2nd rnd match...no he has every chance of not making it....this is crap....Hrbaty should be on his way home.....even if it was Murray loosing I still would want him on the plane home....this great game survives for me for its gladitorial nature one-on-one winner takes all approach...RR format should be flushed qucikly down the toliet pan along with the rest of the s***.

Rant over. Honest.
